My family and I just took a trip to Europe with this bag and it worked perfectly. It is light, the zipper is good quality, and it pulls without falling over no matter how overstuffed. I will try some more of this Rick Steve line next time I need luggage. I also liked that the belt used to connect your handbag was permanently connected to the bag. I have lost all of them on my other bags.

The bag itself is quite well-built. I was initially surprised that it stood so tall- says 24" but the bag measures 26" so buyer should realize the stated size of the bag does not include wheels. The big thing though is the weight. I also bought a Balanzza digital luggage scale. When I weighed the luggage it is 9.7 lbs, not 8 lbs as advertised. The tag states the bag is 8 lbs but it is not. I also weighed the luggage on my bathroom scale and it was 9.8. The manufacturer (Kiva) insists the bag is 8 lbs but whatever I got is absolutely a pound and a half over that. I mean it is only a pound and a half and a little but but I'd rather carry that in souvenirs, so I may be returning this bag.

This 24" rolling bag from Rick Steves is so much better than the larger 26" bags that you can buy in the membership warehouses. Sure it is a little smaller, but it is better construction and half the weight. With the airlines cutting down on how much you can check on, the larger bag we had was 17 pounds, at least one-third of our checked allowance. This 24" bag from Rick Steves weighs only 8 pounds, giving us more for bringing goodies back from our trips.
We use a TSA-approved lock on the outside pockets when we check in to secure these bags. The two handles (one on the top and one on the side) make it convenient for carrying and lifting in and out of the car or onto the bed for packing.
My wife and I used our matching 24" bags (mine in blue and hers in merlot) on a recent 3-week trip to Mexico. We washed clothes 2 times, but this bag was plenty big enough for everything we needed. If you travel once a year or quite frequently, this 24" rolling bag from Rick Steves should be a part of your standard items.

When I first bought it I thought it was a great bag for European travel, if you want to check a bag, but not have to drag a giant suitcase all over. Holds a lot of stuff. After using it for one trip to Scotland, one to Wisconsin and one to Hawaii, I do have some complaints. The outside nylon skin ripped and stuffing is hanging out after 3 trips. Also the handle is fairly difficult to get in and out of the bag. I think I will try a better made brand of luggage next time

This bag is made of very poor quality, lightweight fabric that ripped on the first use of the bag. In addition to an actual tear, there are several areas (corners) where the fabric has already begun to fray. I love Rick Steves's books and, despite the price, assumed he would not put his name on shoddy products. Will not buy from his product lines again.
