Too short close lineJun 29, 2010
By Gregg Camp

I got this as I had never traveled where I would consider washing my clothes. This clothes line was in many instances too short in most cases. I would recommend getting one that is about 2-3 feet longer or bring along some nylon shoelace to tie to it to lengthen it. That is my own personal experience. The braided line did allow for using it without clothes pins and it was small and compact. When it was stretched out, I had the velcro not hold twice and come back at the end of the day and my clothes on the floor.

Watch out for flying chairsMay 31, 2010
By Charles R. Lockhart I tried to review the "Rick Steves Clothesline White" which is what I bought, but there was no --Create your Own Review-- thing on your site. This one looks like the same thing so my comment should still apply. If you want to stretch this line out at all you'd better find some pretty secure anchoring points or something is going to get whipped across the room. Could only use it unstretched for that reason, so only got 3 ft of hanging space.

Works well if you know the limitationsApr 22, 2012
By Dan I bought this item direct from Rick Steve's website before it was available on Amazon. I have used it on about 10 trips over the last 5 years and do not travel without it. I especially love the braided, stretchy material so that you do not need clothes pins (just poke a little bit of the garment under the braid or use the hotel room clothes hangers in the braid). One reviewer mentioned it is short (true) but to solve that issue I always include about a 6 foot length of string in my bag with the clothes line. That make is long enough to stretch from the shower head to another solid fixture in the bathroom (plus it makes installing much easier). I bought two of them and when the wife and I both wash, we "chain" them together and plenty of space for our stuff. It is a little pricey, but I say get it since it is a know item that works and much cheaper than getting laundry done by the hotel. PS - I always use the hotel shampoo (without conditioner) or liquid body wash for my "laundry detergent". It works well and I don't have to worry about packing woolite - plus the extra bonus hat my clothes smell nice.
